What we hold, and why

Last updated September 26, 2026. This covers agentverified.org and the emails we send. It is written for two kinds of people: anyone looking up an agent, and the agents whose records appear here.

1. License records

The register is built from state insurance regulators’ public licensee files and public license lookups, and from checks we run against those lookups when a record is opened. A record holds what the regulator publishes: name, National Producer Number, license numbers, types, lines of authority, statuses, dates, and carrier appointments where the state publishes them. It never holds a home address. Every record names its source and date and links to the state’s own lookup.

2. Contact details on file with a state

Some states publish a business email address or phone number in their licensee files. We keep those only to do two things: to let the agent prove a claim by receiving a code at that contact, shown masked and never in full, and to invite the agent, at most once per campaign, to claim their record. They are never shown on a public page and never sold or shared. Every invitation carries a one-click unsubscribe, and an unsubscribe is honored for good.

3. What agents give us

An agent who claims a record or buys a page gives us the details they choose to show (photo, name as shown, headline, contact links, languages, service area, and for a page the profile content), an email for alerts and receipts, and, on the manual path, a copy of their license, which is kept in private storage, seen only by the person checking it, and never published. Payment details go to our payment processor; we never see or store card numbers.

4. What visitors give us

Searches and record views are handled by our servers and are not tied to an account. We keep short-lived request logs and rate-limit counters by network address to keep the site working and to stop bulk copying. A lead sent through an agent page goes to that agent, with the consent text you saw, and we keep a copy so the agent and we can answer questions about it. We use no advertising trackers. The payment page sets the cookies our payment processor needs.

5. Alerts and emails

Agents with a claimed record get an email when a license status changes, an expiration is near, or a state lookup stops returning them; those alerts can be turned off on the manage page. Receipts and account emails are sent for as long as a claim or page is active. Outreach emails go only to addresses a state has published, and stop the moment you unsubscribe.

6. Keeping and deleting data

License records are kept and refreshed for as long as the state publishes them. Live-check results are kept about a month. A claimed record’s additions are kept while the claim is active and for a year after, so a returning agent finds them; email us to have them deleted sooner. License documents from manual review are deleted after the review. Lead records are kept for the agent for two years.

7. Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and, for anything that is not a public regulator record, ask us to delete it. Write to verify@agentverified.org and we answer within a month. Corrections to license data must come from the state; we will point you to the right lookup and fix our copy when the state does.

8. Contact and changes

AgentVerified is an independent service and not a government agency. Questions about this policy go to verify@agentverified.org. We may update it; the date at the top tells you when. The terms of service cover the rest.
